I call my own style of playing "New Improvised Music", whose means of expression and sound possibilities I have been developing and exploring for over forty years.
This music has distanced itself more and more from (free) jazz, not least due to the influence of electronic music, and has developed an independent playing practice (ars sui generis). An essential stylistic feature of my playing is the proportion of noisy elements, which are individual approach.
The actual course of the musical event always depends on the place, time and the other actors. It is precisely this spontaneity, this unplannable and partly unpredictable nature that constantly presents me with new challenges that help me to advance in my artistic and aesthetic development.
In addition, I am enriched by collaborating with other artistic disciplines such as dance or visual arts, for example. The specific artistic largely produced by unorthodox handling of my instruments, overblowing, changing the embouchure and other techniques.
The planned and the random, the deliberate and the unconscious stand alongside the academic and the seemingly trivial in my improvisations. Rhythmic and expansive, simple and complex, energetic and meditative, ‘boring’ and exciting, (a)tonal and noisy, melodic and sluggish – all these are the opposites that can come into play in my individual approach.
The actual course of the musical event ultimately always depends on the location, time and fellow performers. It is precisely this spontaneity, this unplannable and sometimes unpredictable nature that constantly presents me with new challenges that further my artistic and aesthetic development.
I also find collaboration with other art forms, such as dance or visual arts, enriching. The specific artistic approaches of each discipline change my own focus on musical processes and thus challenge me to constantly reorient myself.

Meine eigene Spielweise bezeichne ich als „Neue Improvisierte Musik“, deren Ausdrucksmittel und Klangmöglichkeiten ich seit über vierzig Jahren entwickle und erforsche.
Diese Musik hat sich nicht zuletzt auch durch den Einfluss elektronischer Musik immer weiter vom (Free-)Jazz entfernt und eine eigenständige Spielpraxis (ars sui generis) herausgebildet. Wesentliches Stilmerkmal meiner Spielweise ist der Anteil von geräuschhaften Elementen, die zum großen Teil durch unorthodoxe Handhabung meiner Instrumente, Überblasen, Veränderung des Ansatzes und andere Techniken erzeugt werden.
Vorausgeplantes und Zufälliges, Gewolltes und Unbewusstes steht in meinen Improvisationen neben Akademischem und scheinbar Belanglosem. Rhythmisches und Flächiges, Einfaches und Komplexes, Energetisches und Meditatives, "Langweiliges" und Spannendes, (A)-Tonales und Geräuschhaftes, Melodisches und Schwergängiges – all dies sind die Gegenpole, die in meiner individuellen Herangehensweise zum Tragen kommen können.
Der tatsächliche Ablauf des musikalischen Geschehens hängt letztlich immer auch von Ort, Zeit und den Mitakteur/inn/en ab. Gerade diese Spontaneität, dieses nicht Planbare und zum Teil nicht Vorhersehbare stellt mich immer wieder vor neue Herausforderungen, die mich in meiner künstlerischen und ästhetischen Entwicklung weiter voranbringen.
Außerdem bereichert mich die Zusammenarbeitet mit anderen Kunstsparten wie zum Beispiel Tanz oder Bildende Kunst usw.. Die jeweils spezifischen künstlerischen Herangehensweisen verändern meinen eigenen Fokus auf die musikalischen Abläufe und fordern mich so zu einer ständigen Neuorientierung heraus.
